 Land
  • Australia is a country of extremes - from the arid centre to the lush rainforests of Northern Queensland.
  • The Continent is vast in area (the entire area of the UK fits three times into one of the smaller States, Victoria) but with a population of only 20 million people spread mainly along the coastal perimeter.
  • Most Australians are English speaking but very cosmopolitan in culture and custom as a result of European and Asian migration.
  • Australia boasts superb sandy beaches, coastal hugging, modern vibrant cities, rainforests, wetlands, spectacular waterfalls, snow covered mountains and tropical islands in the North.
  • Climatically in Southern Australia four seasons are experienced. The far north of Australia is tropical with hot, wet summers (32-35 degree Celsius) and warm dry winters.

 Dentistry in Australia
  • Two streams of dentistry co-exist in Australia, private practice and government funded dental services, the former, offer all clinical treatment to patients of all age groups who pay for the full cost of service provision, or who are privately insured and recoup part of the costs. Private practitioners in general would treat 10-20 patients per 8 hour day.
  • Dental assistants are in short supply in Australia and as a result of this status, overseas clinical personnel are in great demand.
  • Dental recruiting agencies welcome the working visa dental population and are pleased to introduce applicants to the Australian dental market. It is evident that dental job-seekers are well received in both the private and government sectors.

If you are arriving in Australia from overseas you may find it quite a daunting experience to arrive in such a big country. Here are a few tips to help you get started.
